Local calls from Sunshine Coast to Metro Vancouver

Telus has announced local calls from the Sunshine Coast to Metro Vancouver which is great news for all that live on the Sunshine Coast. 

As of Thursday, October 31 2013, Telus long distance charges will no longer apply for home or mobile phone calls from Sechelt, Gibsons, Pender Harbour and Port Mellon to Metro Vancouver. Long distance charges will also no longer apply for calls between Gibsons, Pender Harbour and Port Mellon. Customers in these communities will not need to dial “1” or “0” to have their calls completed.

 

Calls from Metro Vancouver to the Sunshine Coast will become local later in 2014.

 

What about the other Phone Companies?

Is this just for Telus? After a little research, it appears now that Telus has implemented this in the phone exchanges on the Sunshine Coast, all Phone Companies offer this same extended local area to Metro Vancouver service.
